Disney On Ice Cape Town Review: A Magical Family Experience We’ll Never Forget

Our family had the wonderful opportunity to attend Disney On Ice presents Mickey's Search Party at the Grand Arena, GrandWest in Cape Town on Friday, 10 July 2026, and from the moment we arrived, we knew we were in for something special.

First Impressions

After arriving at the venue, we waited approximately 15 minutes to collect our media passes. The process was well organised, and once we had our passes, we were escorted to our seats by the friendly event staff.

As the lights dimmed and the music began, the excitement in the arena was contagious. Children and adults alike were eagerly waiting to see their favourite Disney characters come to life.

A Spectacular Performance

The show was absolutely incredible from beginning to end.

The skating was flawless, the choreography was beautifully executed, and the costumes were vibrant and detailed. Every performance felt like stepping into a different Disney movie, with stunning lighting, special effects and immersive storytelling bringing each scene to life.

One of my favourite parts was seeing so many iconic Disney stories and songs featured throughout the performance. My daughter and I have watched almost every Disney movie included in the show, so seeing beloved characters like Elsa, Moana, Miguel from Coco, Aladdin, Ariel, Buzz Lightyear, Woody and many more performing live on the ice was incredibly nostalgic and heartwarming.

It wasn't just a show; it was a chance to relive some of our favourite Disney memories together.

Intermission Fun

During the intermission, we explored the various photo activations around the venue.

There were both free self-service photo opportunities and professionally photographed paid activations. We decided to purchase a beautiful family photo at the Mickey Mouse activation, which cost R200 and was a lovely keepsake from the day.

Of course, no family outing is complete without the kids spotting something they absolutely have to have! My daughter fell in love with one of the glowing bubble machines, which cost R600. While I did think it was quite expensive, it has continued to entertain both of my children long after the show ended, so it has certainly been well used.

The Magic Continued

After the intermission, we returned to our seats for the second half of the performance, which was every bit as exciting as the first.

The energy never dropped, and each performance seemed to outdo the last. The combination of world-class skating, breathtaking acrobatics, incredible visual effects, and timeless Disney music kept the audience completely engaged throughout.

Seeing the excitement on my daughter's face made the experience even more memorable.

Disney On Ice delivered an unforgettable family experience that exceeded our expectations.

The production quality was exceptional, the performers were outstanding, and the storytelling brought generations of Disney magic together in one spectacular show. Whether you're introducing your children to Disney for the first time or reliving your own childhood favourites, there's something magical for everyone.

Ticket prices range from R200 to R595, depending on the performance and seating category.

The show will also tour Pretoria (28 June-5 July 2026) and Durban (24-26 July 2026).
